[Verse 1]
C F Am
High upon a forgotten mountaintop lay a garden
G
Unattended and dry
C C7/E Am
'Twas a yard that hadn't felt childrens' feet running
G F G C
For the mother long ago taught her children how to fly
C F
Within a simple cabin, untouched by industrial hands
Am G
Sat the aged mother in her home
C C7/E Am G
"You can't escape the picture frames - there's too many," she said,
F G C
"They keep me from bein' all alone"

[Verse 2]
C F
Well she spoke, "He was an honest man
Am G
He worked hard to put food on our plates
C F
Well we had more babies than we had arms
Am G C
We struggled all our lives, but the rewards were great
C F
And when my son came home from the war,
Am G
He rested his head on my breast
C C7/E Am
And said,"'Ma, I'm tired of being used and grinded down
G F G C
I feel so low, can you make me feel like I'm the best?'"
C F
Well my best friend truly wed a savage man
Am G
He wore her like a bad tattoo
C F
For his only love was for a bottle"
Am G C
She said, "There's only one thing left for me to do"
C F Am
"To be wild once again, to take back my life and run away,
G
Set flames to his truck
C C7/E Am G F
He won't ever know what he's been missing; I did every day:
G C C7/E Am G F
Joy, freedom, dance and love,
G C C7/E Am G F C
dance and love"

[Verse 3]
C F
These are the stories that this mother spoke to me
Am G
As I brought her garden back to grow
C F
I was rewarded with a warm meal, tales never to be heard
Am G C
Some call it poverty, but they'll never know
C F
She said, "All I got is my stories and this old guitar,
Am G
My crops have all come and gone away
C C7/E Am G
I got a head full of recipies enticing to the taste
F G C
And a liking to wake up and greet the day
C F
"Got a bad back from raising my children,
Am G
From huggin' my husband so tight
C C7/E Am
Hell, I never cared much for any government;
G F G C
I got my Jesus when I feel the time right"
G (barre) C (barre)
Singin' I'm the richest I'll ever be
G (barre) C (barre)
I embrace the world I have all around me
G F Am
So sing a dying song and slap your knee
F G C C7/E Am
G F G C C7/E Am G F
yeah anarchy
