The Horrible Crowes

Cherry Blossom

by The Horrible Crowes
The Horrible Crowes

Biography:

The Horrible Crowes is a New Brunswick, New Jersey rock band, composed of The Gaslight Anthem’s frontman Brian Fallon and longtime friend Ian Perkins, which conceptualized while Perkins joined Gaslight on a worldwide tour in 2010 and the duo started writing songs on buses, in hotel rooms and even a bathroom in Japan following the earthquake. The Behold The Hurricane Songfacts explains that the name comes from an old poem called the Twa Corbies, which means, 'two crows.

This is the Horrible Crowes song ‘Cherry Blossom’ from the record “Elsie”. The chords
are essentially correct, though with alternate voicings for simplicity. The tab should not
be followed 100% as it outlines a basic structure to the intro, take from the tablature
and play it your own way around the chords. You can play this song in Standard Tuning, or
a whole step down.
So following that rhythm the rest of the song goes like this, for the verses use the
rhythms above, just use the chord names as markers. The chords in the chorus are played
un-arpeggiated, and as barre chords, whereas the chords in the bridge are too
un-arpeggiated, although they are in the open form. BEFORE I get anyone criticising my
tab for having a C# chord rather than C#m, it's just used to symbolise the octave chord.

B C# Aadd9
I drive this car through the city every night
F#m7 Riff Asus2
There's a quiet I never heard before
B C# Add9
And lonely, my sister could not describe
F#m7 Riff Asus2
All the good things gone wrong

Chorus Variant 1:

And there was blood on my teeth
F#m
From the long winter here

Bones broke in half

A stain on my shirt

From a couple hours out with the boys

And all good things come to an end
B5 C#5 Aadd9
And all memory has left my bones

Interlude: F#m7 Riff Asus2

Verse 3:
B C# Aadd9
If I drove straight off this bridge
F#m7 Riff Asus2
Only God and my baby would know
B C# Aadd9
I'm sure she'd be laughing, come during spring
F#m7 Riff Asus2
With some fella who just said the right thing

Chorus Variant 2:
A
And there was blood on my teeth
F#m
From just what they did here
A
Bones broke in half
A
A stain on my shirt

E (Guitar Lick 2)
And all good things come to an end

Bridge:
Dsus4 F#m
See all I can do is think about you
Bm A
And miss all your kisses like the spring
E
But if I had a sign
Dsus4
That one day you'd be mine again, oh no
F#m Bm
If I could hold you right then
A E
As the chill in this season sputtered and spit and died with...

Chorus Variant 3:
A
Blood on my teeth
F#m
From just what they did here

Snow tumbling down on the ground

Finding cherry blossoms on the hood of my car
