The Hold Steady

212 Margarita

by The Hold Steady
The Hold Steady

Biography:

The Hold Steady is an American rock band based in Brooklyn formed by vocalist/guitarist Craig Finn (ex-Lifter Puller) in 2004. Wanting to capture the sound of bands such as The Replacements and The Grifters, Finn recruited guitarist Tad Kubler (also ex-Lifter Puller), drummer Judd Counsell, and bassist Galen Polivka. In 2005 the band grew to include Franz Nicolay (of The World/Inferno Friendship Society) on keyboards and Bobby Drake took over on drums following Counsell's departure.

Intro:
A E x3
A B

A E
Some nights it just takes like a smile and a shake.
A E
And I've been with the bodies,
A E
and I've been with the blood,
A B
and I went with Halleluiah and she didn't say a thing,
A E
she just wiped at her nose and then she winked.

A E
And I've been with the cops,
A E
and I've been with all the squares,
A B
and I went with St. Deborah of defeat and depression,
A E
she put her hand up on my shoulder and then she just kinda stood there.

E/F# A
And she said, "Call me (212) margarita.
C#m B A
'Cause I'm green, and I'm misleading, and I've had too much tequila."

A E

A E
And I've been with short tempers,
A E
I've been behind the sharp knives,
A B
I believe the shots in the distance to be cold hard facts,
A E
Ringing out against the radios and the speaker stacks.

A E
And I've been with the hoodrats,
A E
I've been with all the hangers on,
A B
I stayed out 'til dawn at some raunchy magazine launch,
A E
and I hit the open bar and got myself all turned on.

E/F# A
And she said "Call me (612) bloody mary.
C#m B A
'Cause I'm nice, and I'm spicy, and I'm your only sure shot at recovery."

A E

E/F# A
She said, "Call me (212) margarita.
C#m B A
I'm green, and I'm misleading, and I've had too much tequila."

F#m A
Leave a message at the Motel 6,
E E/F# A
and let me know if you still so sick.
F#m A
We'll be in town on a three night stick,
E E/F# E/G#
and maybe if you're feeling better then we could get some soup together,
A
we've been sick together before."

(Solo)
A E x8
A B
A E

A E
And I believe in the bodies,
A E
and I believe in the blood,
A
and I believe in salt along the rims of the glasses,
B
'cause that makes us thirsty,
A E
and when we drink then we all fall in love.
A E
I believe in the bodies,
A E
and I believe in the blood,
A
and I believe in salt along the rims of the glasses,
B
'cause that makes us thirsty,
A E(End)
and when we drink then we all fall in love.

Gotta love the lyrics, enjoy.
Johan
