The Fray

Singing Low

by The Fray
The Fray

Biography:

From the sleepy sprawl of America's 'Mile-High City', Denver, Colorado, United States, comes The Fray, a foursome whose melodic piano rock songs and soaring vocals resonate with sprawling tapestries and tales of hopefulness and heartache. Formed in 2002 by Isaac Slade (vocals, piano) and Joe King (guitar, vocals), The Fray earned a loyal grassroots following through impressive area gigs and the support of local radio, which led a listener-driven campaign to get the band a record contract.

[Verse 1]

C
Words are floatin' on our skin
Em C
Like water torture, you get in my head
You call me this and I call you that
Em
There's too much talking, mmm

[Pre-Chorus]

C G/B
So please don't speak, my heart is having trouble
Em Am
With the beat, beat, beat, so try to take it slow
C
We can't speak
G/B Em
I want it, I'm just trying to find the beat, beat, beat
Am
My heart is singing low

[Chorus]

C G/B Em
We can lay together
Am
We're closer than we've ever been
C G/B Em
Stay right here forever
Am
And break each other off again

[Verse 2]

C
Where we're going, that promise land
Em C
We made that promise, you gave me your hand
And all their talking, it pulled us in
Em
Say you'll never leave
Can we promise that?

[Pre-Chorus]

C G/B
So please don't speak, my heart is having trouble
Em Am
With the beat, beat, beat, so try to take it slow
C
We can't speak
G/B Em
I want it, I'm just trying to find the beat, beat, beat
Am
My heart is singing low

[Chorus]

C G/B Em
We can lay together
Am
We're closer than we've ever been
C G/B Em
Stay right here forever
