Verse 1:
G G/F# Em
So I hear your rebuilding your life
Cadd9
Down in Mexico way
Dsus4 G
To act out your favorite play
G/F# Em
With your cat and piano
Cadd9
I always new you could play
Dsus4
I knew you better than your friends would suggest
G G/F# Em
The one who's laid claim to being your best

Well that's always the way

When you want something

That's always the way

When you want something you can't have

When you want something you can't have

Verse 2: (same chords as verse 1)
You were my favourite one
But I suppose that's
Fallen on deaf ears
Because of the way that it was left
It was in the hands of the gods the sods
There an un ruley mob and on there CV
They can now write down theft

Chorus:
(same chords as verse 1)
Something's they are not for the best
And that's always the way
When you want something
That's always the way
When you want something you can't have

Bridge:

Bm
That's always the way
Cm G
When you want something you can't have
Bm
That's always the way
Cm G
When you want something you can't have

Same chords as verse 1:
I never wanted this to happen this way
When do we ever a little time called never
Retrospect is such a cruel invention
No cruel intentions not a single bad

I never wanted this to happen this way
When do we ever a little time called never
Retrospect is such a cruel invention
No cruel intentions
I want something I can't have
