The Clientele

Biography:

The Clientele are a London-based band with Alasdair MacLean on vocals and guitar, Mark Keen on drums, James Hornsey on bass and Mel Draisey on Keys and Violin.

The middle 8 adds a little variation by adding a few
alterations to what is picked on the B and high E strings which
is fairly obvious to figure out. If not, I can add it later.

E F#m
All the pines that shiver in the park
G#m
Kick my fever through the dark
F#m
Through the railings and the iron
E
Empty bars and tenement lines
F#m
Something slips back into place
G#m
For a second there's a trace
A
Of my face inside the trees
B
Sudden light in everything

Break:
| B | F#m | A | E | x2

I get up and head down into work
Running errands like a jerk
But the fever does me in
Never touching anything
Like the sea inside a shell
Everything speaks to itself
Darkness comes at half-past three
My own face is in the trees

Break:
| B | F#m | A | E | x2
| E |
| D | A | E | | x2

Middle 8 (x2):
D A
For six years I have seen a friend
E
In summer crowds in Europe
D A E
When the evening falls

So I left myself back in the night
Moving into clearer light
Neither here nor really gone
Both surrounded and alone
Like the sea inside a shell
Everything speaks to itself
Darkness comes at half-past three
My own face is in the trees

Outro:
| B | F#m | A | E | x2

Dah da da da da da da da da...
| E | F#m | G#m | F#m | to fade
