C E Am G
Well why won't you dance with me

C G
The night is free

C G Am
And my hands... are aching?

E Am G
Why won't you hold me.

F C D
Like the stars I see are holding the sky?

F C
Oh I'll be hanging in the leaves

F C
Of this dusty old palm tree

F C
If you're wondering after me

F G
That's where I'll be

G C
In this dusty palm tree

C E Am G
Well why won't you sing to me

C G
Sing me a melody

C G Am
So sweet... that it makes my heart bleed?

E Am G
Well why won't you cradle me,

F C D
Rock me endlessly like the waves rock the sea?

F C
Well I'll be hanging in the leaves

F C
Of this dusty old palm tree

F C
If you're wondering after me

F G
That's where I'll be

G C
In this dusty palm tree

C E Am G
Well why don't you run to me,

C G Am
Cross this empty beach... scrape the sand with your feet,

E Am G
And lean up against this tree,

F C D
Where I'm swinging in the breeze, just out of reach

F C
Well I'll be hanging in the leaves

F C
Of this dusty old palm tree

F C
If you're wondering after me

F G
That's where I'll be

G C F C
In this dusty palm tree
