The Beautiful South

Biography:

The Beautiful South were a British pop group formed in 1989, from the ashes of Hull, England group The Housemartins. The band was put together by lead singer, Paul Heaton, and drummer, Dave Hemingway. They were joined by Sean Welch (Bass), Dave Stead (Drums) and Dave Rotheray (Guitar). Rotheray also co-writes the songs with Heaton.

In The Beautiful South, Heaton shared the lead singer's role with Hemingway and female singer Briana Corrigan to create a trio of lead vocalists.

G C
Through ugly pints and Sunday breath
F G C/E
Sit men whose stare is cold as breath
G C
Through wide lapels and glued up eyes
F G C
Through made up kids and made up wives

C7
Sitting in the heart of them
F
Is a man who's not like other men
C7
Don't you know just who I am
F G7
A nod, a wink, I am the domino man.

G C
And if you pull a double one
F G C
I'll pack may bags and I'll be gone
G C
If you pull a three and four
F G C
I'm flying off to Singapore
F G C
Where women dance and tigers roar
F G C
I'm lying on a distant shore
G C
I'm living life as fast as I can
F G F G C
A nod, a wink, another drink, I am the domino man.

G C
Through a twenty deep screen of humorists
F G C/E
Through slavering jaws and angry fists
G C
Through tales of mishap and the clickety-clack
F G C
Is a fully paid memeber of the brother of the tap

C7
Through heavy smoke and idle bets
F
Through heaving lungs and heavy debts
C7
Sits a man who knows he can
F G7
A nod, a wink, I am the domino man.

G C
And if you pull a two and six
F G C
I'll pack my bags and take the risk
G C
And if you pull a four and five
F G C
They'll never take this man alive
F G C
I'll go far east and I'll survive
F G C
The market streets I'll duck and dive
G C
I'm living life as fast as I can
F G F G C
A nod, a wink, another drink, I am the domino man.

G C F G C
And when he's off to sail the seven seas
G C F G C
He just stays indoors or hides up trees
G C F G C
He's been to places that you've never seen
G G7
But his mind is blank and his passport's clean

G C
And if you pull a two and six
F G C
I'll pack my bags and take the risk
G C
And if you pull a four and five
F G C
They'll never take this man alive
F G C
I'll go far east and I'll survive
F G C
The market streets I'll duck and dive
G C
I'm living life as fast as I can
F G F G C
A nod, a wink, another drink, I am the domino man.
