How The Mighty Fall - The Alarm

Words & Music by Macdonald & Peters
As heard on Change by The Alarm (www.thealarm.com)

Tuning: half step down

C---------G-----------------------Am
Once you held your finger on the trigger
C--------------G----------------F
Now the gun is pointing at your head
C---------------------G
Once you reigned supreme
Am----------------------F
Over all that you could see
C-------------------G-----------------F
Now you walk on the other side of the street

Am-----F----C--------------G
Oh.....Oh...How the mighty fall
Am----------F--------C---------------G
Yeah oh....ohh.....I've seen it all before
C-----------------G
From the highest heights
Am----------------F
To the lowest of lows
C-------G--------------F
Oh......How the mighty fall

C------------------------G---------------------Am
Once your words were the first and last on the subject
C--------------------G-----------------F
Now they hang like a noose around your neck
C-----------------G
Once you held the light
Am-------------------------------F
That could be seen from near and far
C----------------G--------------F
Now you fall and stumble in the dark

Am----------------F--------------C-------------------G
Once you held the secrets of the world within your hands
Am--------------F-----------------G
Now you're just another grain of sand
Am----------------F
Once you were the first
C---------------G
Revered to the last
Am-------------F-------------------G
Now they talk about your fall from grace

(How the mighty fall)
How the mighty fall
(How the mighty fall)
How the mighty fall
(How the mighty fall)
The harder, the harder, the harder they fall
(How the mighty fall)
The harder, the harder, the harder they fall
(How the mighty fall)
How the mighty fall
