The Storm

The C and F chords are played slightly non-standard for ease of movement.
I highly recommend watching the youtube video of them playing the
acoustic version live: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4FuSixYHKQ.
This is great for getting the timing and strum pattern figured out.
Also Mikel doesn't use a pick through "like a house in a storm", which
adds a lot to the piece. The chords:

C F Am
e|------0------0------0------|
B|------1------1------1------|
G|------0------2------2------|
D|------2------3------2------|
A|------3------3------0------|
E|------3------x------x------|

The "~C" represent the dramatic break in strumming of the
previous chord before beginning the C chord.

Intro:
C

F C
Before it took you away,

Am F C
I tried to think of something I could say.

F C
I watched the shadows in the hall.

Am F C
How they danced with the light and the white on the walls.

C F C F
Your face in these pictures looks like a poem.

C F C F
Your eyes lit up like a river stone.

C F C F
Your body so much like a blanket thrown,

Am C F
On a warm bed at night, like a house in a storm.

~ C

F C
And then you walk right through the doorway.

Am F C
You tell me you're here to stay.

F C
The worst is gone and my God how long,

Am F C
Have you been here this way?

F C
And I surprise myself sometimes,

Am F C
The way the days unfold and this road unwinds.

F C
You tell me you see it too,

Am F C
And the miles seem like inches when I think of you.

C Am F C
Its been 25 days since I've been gone.

C Am F C
25 weeks since I've seen my home.

C Am F C
I spent 25 months chasing this song,

C Am F
and all of this time I've been alone.

~ C

F C
And then you walk right through the doorway.

Am F C
You tell me you're here to stay.

F C
The worst is gone and my God how long

Am F C
Have you been here this way?

Am F C
And you knew it all along.

Am F C
I wasn't happy all along,

Am F C
and your body all I wanted

Am F C
led me to just come home.

~ C

F C
And then you walk right through the doorway.

Am F C
You tell me you're here to stay.

F C
The worst is gone and my God how long,

Am F C
Have you been here this way?

C Am F C
And I only just learned how to stand like a man,

C Am F C
I've got 25 years I've been running instead.

C Am F C
How could I see the ground at my feet

C Am F
From what you gave to me when I was caught in the storm

End on C
That I wasn't alone
