Ted Leo

Lonsdale Avenue

by Ted Leo
Ted Leo

[Chorus]
Am C F C
Lonsdale Avenue, I'm coming back home
Am C F C G
I've been walking, I've been walking, many a mile alone
Am C F C
Long long avenue, I'm one of your own
Am C F Am
I've been working, I've been working, my fingers to the bone

[Verse 1]
C Am
I don't have enemies, no enemies in mind
C
But I have friends and I have seen them all pass by
Am
I had a job, in fact I worked it all the time
C
It hurts to find I never put enough aside
C
Pierced with ever pixel, Shame, but that's the game
C Dm G
Left over and out here, I'm not asleep again

[Chorus]
Am C F C
Lonsdale Avenue, I'm coming back home
Am C F C G

[Verse 2]
C Am
I had a selkie child, in troubled times she came
C
I couldn't protect her from this life and all its pain
C Am
We called her many things, and those things she'll remain
C
But she taught me better love that I might love again
C
To slip into the slip stream, follow her and go
C Dm G Am
But this man who'd gladly move a million mountains, Must get outside and shovel snow

[Chorus]
Am C F C
Lonsdale Avenue, I'm coming back home
Am C F C G
I've been walking, I've been walking, many a mile alone
Am C F C
Long long avenue, I'm one of your own
Am C F Am
I've been working, I've been working, my fingers to the bone
Am C F C
Lonsdale Avenue, I'm coming back home
Am C F Am
I've been working, I've been working, my fingers to the bone
