Love this song.
I'll admit chords are probably not exact as Suzanne adds quite a few funny chords,
but these ones fit the song!

For the chords on the verses, some fingerpulling is required.
Just pluck the three highest strings!

Capo on three (or two, if that suits your voice better)!

Chords -
Em * (xxx453) (Basically Dm moved up two)
D (xxx232)
C (x32010)
Cadd9 (x32033)
Em7 (x22033)

Em * is an Em chord, but it's a variation. Hence, the asterisk!

Intro: Em * D Em * D C D

Verse:
Em * D
I believe right now if I could
Em * D
I would swallow you whole
Em * D
I would leave only bones and teeth
Em * D
We could see what was underneath
Cadd9
And you would be free then

Em * D Em * D
Once I thought only tears could make us free
Em * D
Salt wearing down to the bone
Em * D
Like sand against the stone
Cadd9
Against the shoreline

Chorus (strum):
Em7 D
I am friend to the undertow
Em7 D
I take you in, I don't let go
Cadd9
And now I have you
Em * D Em * D
Ooh

Verse:
Em * D
I wanted to learn all the secrets
Em * D
From the edge of a knife
Em * D
From the point of a needle, from a diamond
Em * D
From a bullet in flight
Cadd9
I would be free then

Chorus:
Em7 D
I am friend to the undertow
Em7 D
I take you in, I don't let go
Cadd9
And now I have you
Em7 D
I am friend to the undertow
Em7 D
I take you in, I don't let go
Cadd9
And now I have you

Verse:
Em * D Em * D
I wanted to see how it would feel to be that sleek
Em * D Em * D
And instead I find this hunger's made me weak

C D
I believe right now if I could
Em * D
I would swallow you whole
Em * D
I would leave only bones and teeth
Em * D
We could see what was underneath
Cadd9
And you would be free then

Chorus:
Em7 D
I am friend to the undertow
Em7 D
I take you in, I don't let go
Cadd9
And now I have you
Em7 D
I am friend to the undertow
Em7 D
I take you in, I don't let go
Cadd9
And now I have you
Em * D Em * D
Ooh

End on Em * ...
