Paul Baribeau

Eight Letters

by Paul Baribeau
Paul Baribeau

Biography:

Paul Baribeau's warm, witty sounds and gnarly beard bring something truly unique and interesting to the folk-punk table. The South Central Michigan native collaborates often with friends such as Matty Pop Chart and Kimya Dawson, but has two self-released ("25" and "Unbearable") and two Plan-It-X released ("Paul Baribeau" and "Grand Ledge") solo albums, plus a very interesting Bruce Springsteen covers album.

Verse: (palm mute heavily throughout)

G
The first letter I wrote you was way too long
C
Way too crazy way too scary way too sad
The second one I wrote you was way too short
G
Just said I love you baby please come back
The third one that I wrote you was right down the middle
C
Somehow it didn't quite sum it all up
The fourth one that I wrote you I did the best that I could do
G
We both know that was never good enough

Chorus:

Am
Oh I had nothing nice to say
C
I said it anyway
G
I made myself feel a little better
Am
Oh but in the end I guess
C
It was probably for the best
G
That I never bothered sending you those letters

G
The fifth one that I wrote you was one big long joke
C
You probably wouldn't think was very funny

The sixth one that I wrote was a strictly business note
G
Requesting you pay me back that last two months rent money

The seventh one was magic it was totally romantic
C
it would have made your little boxer shorts melt

But the eighth time that I tried I swear I couldn't even write
G
I just curled up and cried all by myself

Am
Oh I had nothing nice to say
C
I said it anyway
G
I made myself feel a little better
Am
Oh but in the end I guess
C
It was probably for the best
G
That I never bothered sending you those letters
