Straylight Run

Who Will Save Us Now

by Straylight Run
Straylight Run

Biography:

Straylight Run was the project of ex-Taking Back Sunday members John Nolan and Shaun Cooper. The band formed in May 2003 shortly after John and Shaun left Taking Back Sunday due to personal differences with lead singer Adam Lazzara. John and Shaun had been writing songs while still in the old band that they felt didn't fit in with Taking Back Sunday's style, and the freedom of starting a new band gave them a chance to experiment with this new sound.

Am
protect us but keep
us scared to death so

C
and give us peace of mind
C
about our miserable lives
D
Confined and content
All we want is
Em G D C Em-G-D-C
a place we can hide

Verse 2:
Em
So we've always
G
fought our wars
D
for what we're told
C
is worth dying for
Em
Land and love and
G
god and wealth
D
but men in charge
C
protect themselves
Em G D
You can rest assured
that it's the
Em G D
young and the poor
C
who've fought all them
Em
Our wars led to
G D C
death by men who
Em G D
they chose and hoped
C

D
you've chosen to let
Em G D C Em-G-D-C-
someone else do it for you

Verse 3:
Em
So we're left to
G
drift between
D
our waking life and
C
all of our dreams
Em
Reality is
G D
relative and all
that's all the
C
advice I'll give
Em G D
Life and death are hard
C Em G
They're such strange
D C
and complicated issues
Em G
So listen and listen
D C Em G
well for insight
D
but no one knows
C
what's right for you

Chorus 3:
C G
"Who will save us now? It's
Am
a wrong and irrelevant question
C G
Because we figure it out
with the people who love us
Am
Who call us half brothers
C
for lessons we've learned
D
for our fathers and mothers
Am
not looking for someone
C
to find our solutions
D
Fight all our battles
Am
or show us what truth is
C
It's by working hard to
find our own peace of mind
D
Living and learning until we
Em G D C Em-G-D-C
know what's right for our lives
