Straylight Run

Miracle That Never Came

by Straylight Run
Straylight Run

Biography:

Straylight Run was the project of ex-Taking Back Sunday members John Nolan and Shaun Cooper. The band formed in May 2003 shortly after John and Shaun left Taking Back Sunday due to personal differences with lead singer Adam Lazzara. John and Shaun had been writing songs while still in the old band that they felt didn't fit in with Taking Back Sunday's style, and the freedom of starting a new band gave them a chance to experiment with this new sound.

(Song can be done without capo, just transpose chords. A=B, Bm=C#m, F#m=G#m, E=F#. I
capoed it to make more open chords for easier playing.)

A Bm
My window pane was leaking glass,
A
Cut my arm and then you laughed.
Bm
I jumped from just one story high,
A
And now I'm stuck here 'til I die.
Bm
Now I'm stuck here 'til I die.
A
Now I'm stuck here 'til I die.

A
Don't you remember me?
Bm A
I swear I knew you when I knew you there.
Bm
We loved and learned under the sun.
A
We had more fun than anyone.

Bm
She's eight years old and moving out.
A
She's halfway 'cross the country now.
Bm
She's smarter than alot of us.
A
She doesn't break or bend or fuss.

Maybe she's in heaven now,
Or maybe she's back here somehow.
She's wearing all the finest clothes,
And draped in jewelry head to toe.
It is impossible to know,
There is no ending to the show.
The grand finale, big hoorah.
One day we're here the next we're not.

A F#m
Oh, look what I've done here.
A F#m
Oh, look what I've done here.
E
Let these thoughts creep in.
F#m
Let 'em seep right in.
E
Let these thoughts creep in.
F#m E (hold)
Let 'em seep right in.

A Bm
I hope she doesn't have to see,
A
What became of her family.
Bm
Her father left after she died.
A (block)
Her brothers cried and cried and cried.
Bm
She took your man, I took your name.
A
The miracle that never came.
Bm
But oh, her life is beautiful.
A
She'll live through me and live through you.

I used to sing you lullabies.
I'd hold you when you'd start to cry.
I was your mother and your friend,
And she remembered me from then.
I was your mother and your friend.
Don't you remember me from then?
