Straylight Run

Dignity And Money

by Straylight Run
Straylight Run

Biography:

Straylight Run was the project of ex-Taking Back Sunday members John Nolan and Shaun Cooper. The band formed in May 2003 shortly after John and Shaun left Taking Back Sunday due to personal differences with lead singer Adam Lazzara. John and Shaun had been writing songs while still in the old band that they felt didn't fit in with Taking Back Sunday's style, and the freedom of starting a new band gave them a chance to experiment with this new sound.

Chorus

C G7sus4
So I focus on what I've been promised,
D7 Gsus4
And it tore us open, and bleed us dry of our
(stop playin)
dignity and money

Repeat intro

Verse 2
C Gsus4 G7sus4 D7
It's under control, so keep holding it together
C Gsus4 G7sus4 D7
And things just fall apart but you know we can't wait forever

Break (same as last time)

So, come try keep this, keep this, you grit your teeth
And do your job, they'll never know the difference
Keep it going one day, a month, a year or more
Ignore that sinking feeling

Chorus (same as the first one except at the end instead of finishing on ...and money, go
to the begining and start the chorus again this time ending the same as the first chorus)

Intro

Interlude

D7(strum lightly)
well we should have seen it coming
(should have seen it..)

we should have seen it coming
(should have seen it..)

we should have seen it coming
(should have seen it..)
C(strum once then end)
we left ourselves wide open...

Chorus (same as second chorus except gentle slow struming gradually building up to catch
up with the regular speed when you reach the Gsus4 chord the first time, then on the
second time there finger clicking and a harmonica going on in the background and it ends
without the ...and money part going straight into the next verse)

C G7sus4 D7 Gsus4
Well maybe can all retain a bit of ourselves, remember who we were keep on moving
(So I focus on what I've been promised,)
C G7sus4
Put things in perspective, try to learn a lesson
(and it tore us open)
D7
Its not life or death...
Gsus4
Its only business...
C Gsus4 C Gsus4 C Gsuus4 C
no no no oh oh oh no no oh oh no no no ohhhhh oh oh
