[Verse]
G C D
She wakes up with a smile seldom seen before
G C
Gets ready for work, grabs her keys and floats
D
right out the door
Em C D
Oh, the smell of her perfume says he'll be waitin' there
Em C D
While drivin' down Fourth Avenue, she combs her hair

Well, he's been waitin' for someone like her all his life
G C D
He's got so much to tell her when the time is right
Em C D
He drifts into another world when she walks down the hall
Em C D
The way he looks at her and says hello, oh says it all

[Chorus]
C
You can hear it in his voice
D Em
You can see it in her eyes
C D G
Oh, love is a river and the river's on the rise
C D Em
Love is a river runnin' wild and runnin' free
C Bm
Flowin' through the heart like the Mississippi
Am D

C D
It's like standin' on a levee lookin' down into
Em
the delta's eyes
C D Em C D
Oh, love is a river and the river's on the rise

[Bridge]
G C D
So they both pretend that this is just another day
G C D
But they know one wrong move, could give it all away
Em C D
With an endless stream of emotion buildin' up inside

He feels born again, and she's never felt so alive

[Chorus]
C
You can hear it in his voice
D Em
You can see it in her eyes
C D G
Oh, love is a river and the river's on the rise

Love is a river runnin' wild and runnin' free
C Bm
Flowin' through the heart like the Mississippi
Am G-C-D
flows through me
C D
It's like standin' on a levee lookin' down into
Em
the delta's eyes
C D G C Em D C
Oh, love is a river and the river's on the rise
