Em
I have returned to the northern skies
Em
where the summer had not touched
Em
The clouds that pass above
Am
Oh and I have returned to the sombre grace
D C D
Of the days too early to come and too early to stay
A
And I have left a million stars
D
And an ocean so lightly so clearly blue
A
And I have left the warmth of the sun
D C D
And a million adventures not yet begun
G F# Em
The great sense of passing through
Em
The great sense of passing through
Am Dsus2 G F# Em
The great sense of passing through
Em
Oh for once there was beauty here for me
A
Under these white northern skies
Am
And I felt the green was blacker
Am
And the blue was darker still
D
My roots are lying deeper than I ever think they will again
A D C D
Heartache and poverty under these northern skies
G F# Em
The great sense of passing through
Em
The great sense of passing through
Am D G F# Em
The great sense of passing through
