Soul Asylum

Stranger

by Soul Asylum
Soul Asylum

Biography:

Soul Asylum is an American alternative rock band formed in the summer of 1981 by Minneapolis high school friends Dan Murphy, Karl Mueller, and Dave Pirner. The band (named Loud Fast Rules up until 1984) quickly became frontrunners of American college rock, following in the tradition of fellow Minnesota bands Hüsker Dü and The Replacements.

Landing their first record deal with Twin/Tone in 1984, Soul Asylum recorded a total of four albums for the local label: Say What You Will.

"Stranger"

INTRO: C F (x2)

C F
I said hey brown girl, I've seen your tears through the window of the
C
junkshop downtown Selling trinkets from your far off homeland, did the
F
promised land let you down?
C F
I said hey young boy I notice that you ain't afraid to walk next to me
C F
Old man, you look like you're dying, is that all you want, is a quarter from me?
C F G F C
Oh, sometimes I feel like a stranger and I feel even stranger

C F (x2)

C
I'm just another face in a faceless crowd, I'm just another king in a
F C
headless crown, I'm so alone. You know I live here in this city, but
F
this place it just ain't nobody's home
C
Now how many times do I got to tell you
F
There's no such thing as a man made world?
C
And how many times do I got to tell you
F
There's no such thing as a man-tamed girl?
C F
Sometimes I feel like stranger, and
G F C
I feel even stranger

C F (x2)

C F
I want to buy some flowers for my mother, if I only had another chance
C F
You see I've got a happy family, but that's oh so far away
C F
You see I've got it all here inside me, but I just can't seem to get it out
C F
But I know with a little imagination we can work this whole goddamn thing
out

C F G F C
Oh, don't make me feel like a stranger, and I feel even stranger

C F (x2)
