Soul Asylum

Grounded

by Soul Asylum
Soul Asylum

Biography:

Soul Asylum is an American alternative rock band formed in the summer of 1981 by Minneapolis high school friends Dan Murphy, Karl Mueller, and Dave Pirner. The band (named Loud Fast Rules up until 1984) quickly became frontrunners of American college rock, following in the tradition of fellow Minnesota bands Hüsker Dü and The Replacements.

Landing their first record deal with Twin/Tone in 1984, Soul Asylum recorded a total of four albums for the local label: Say What You Will.

Soul Asylum - Grounded
From: And the Horse They Rode In On (1990)

This song would not be tabbed without a help from Jessie H.
and his non-commercial "The DVD Project", who shared Soul Asylum's Unplugged concert
1993 with other fans of the
greatest band ever. Many thanks to him.

Intro: Dm Am G G

Dm Am C G
When eight turns sideways
Dm Am C G
You head on down the highway
Dm Am C G
Say this is my way,
Dm Am G G
disappearing forever

But there ain't just one way
So you choose the fun way
Slide down the runway
On a ticket that goes two ways

Chorus:
C D
And by the way that it sounded
C G
You thought that you'd be astounded
C D
But you left it like you found it
C G G
Cause it wasn't yours to take

What once seemed like dyin'
Soon turned into flyin'
So you settle for tryin'
And you wish you were grounded

Chorus:
No you cannot get much higher
Than your utmost desire
So you bring it down to size it
C G /pause/
Now it seems that you are grounded

G C Dm
Grounded
G C Dm
Grounded
G C Dm
Grounded
G C Dm
Grounded

G G

Chorus:
By the way that it sounded
You thought that you'd be astounded
But you left it like you found it
Now you find that you are grounded
