Whip Poor Will

by Songs: Ohia
Songs: Ohia

Biography:

Songs: Ohia was largely a solo project for singer-songwriter Jason Molina (December 30, 1973 – March 16, 2013). Critics and fans alike have found considerable difficulty in trying to define the band's sound, usually settling on more general labels such as indie rock and folk-rock. Most are quick to draw comparisons to Neil Young and Will Oldham, (the latter of which Molina has collaborated with, alongside Alasdair Roberts, as the Amalgamated Sons of Rest).

E B A E

[Verse]
E B A E
Got my window open in the southern cross hotel
E B A E
It's been my longest night i can tell
E B A E
By the way i'm not surprised
E B A E
To see the desert cover over paradise
E B A E
Now count every rhododendron in this cool mountain light
E B A E
I made more mistakes than that just tonight
E B A E
So all of you folks in heaven not too busy ringing the bell
E B A E
Some of us down here ain't doing very well
E B A E
Some of us with our windows open in the southern cross motel

[Chorus]
E B A E
Still waitin
E B A E
Still waitin

[Verse]
E B A E
For you to sing that song again
E B A E
The one you were singin at the very fall of man

It ain't hallelujah but it might as well have been

Sing it brother one more time
E B A E
Sing it brother one more time

Once for everybody who got left behind
