Songs: Ohia

Didnt It Rain

by Songs: Ohia
Songs: Ohia

Biography:

Songs: Ohia was largely a solo project for singer-songwriter Jason Molina (December 30, 1973 – March 16, 2013). Critics and fans alike have found considerable difficulty in trying to define the band's sound, usually settling on more general labels such as indie rock and folk-rock. Most are quick to draw comparisons to Neil Young and Will Oldham, (the latter of which Molina has collaborated with, alongside Alasdair Roberts, as the Amalgamated Sons of Rest).

[Verse]

D F C G
No matter how dark the storm gets overhead
D F C G
They say someone's watching from the calm at the edge
D F C G
What about us when we're down here in it
D F C G
We gotta watch our own backs

[Chorus]

D F C G
ooooooooo

[Verse]
D F C G
But if you do see that golden light
D F C G
That it shines in its fiery eye
D F C G
Go on and catch it while you can
D F C G
Go on and catch it if you can
D F C G
Let it course through you
D F C G
And let it burn through you
D F C G
If it's the light of truth (x2)

[Chorus]

D F C G
oooooooooo

[Verse]

D F C G
If they think you got it they're going to beat it out of you
D F C G
With work and debt whatever all else there is
D F C G
You got to watch your own back
D F C G
Try to see the light of goodness burning down the track
D F C G
Through the blinding rain through the swaying wires
D F C G
If i see you struggle i will not turn my back
D F C G
I've seen a good man and a bad man
D F C G
down the same path

[Chorus]

D F C G
ooooooooo

[Verse]

D F C G
I've seen the light of truth keeping out of it
D F C G
and told them to watch their own backs

[Chorus]

D F C G
ooooooooo

[Verse]

D F C G
If i see you struggle and givin all that you got
D F C G
I see you work all night burning your light
D F C G
to the last of its dim watts
D F C G
I'm gonna help you how i can,
D F C G
if you see me struggle all night and
D F C G
give me a hand cause i'm in need
D F C G
i'll call you friend indeed
D F C G
But i'm going to watch my own back

[Chorus]

D F C G
oooooooo

Didn't it rain
