So I was playing the song. The strumming pattern is hard to explain. It's basically how
you sing and play so you could make up your own strumming pattern. This is my first tab
so I hope you like it☺ Um it's not that good but it goes like this:

Capo first fret

Cadd9
Father, father, tell me where have you been?
Em7
Its been hell not having you here
Cadd9
I've been missing you so bad and you don't seem to care
G Cadd9 Em C
When I go to sleep at night, you're not there
G Cadd9 Em C
When I go to sleep at night, do you care?
Em7 G
Do you even miss us? Your bottle's your mistress
C
I need to know, I need to know
Em7 Cadd9
Why are you walking away?
G
Was it something I did? Did I make a mistake cause
Em7 Cadd9
I'm trying to deal with the pain
G
I don't understand this, is this how it is?
Em7 C G
I will try to understand
G Cadd9 Em7
Father, father, tell me where are you now?

Its been hell not having you
G C Em
Last thing I heard, you were fed up, you're skipping town
C
With no note telling where
G Cadd9 Em C
When I go to sleep at night, you're not there
G Cadd9 Em C
When I go to sleep at night, do you care?

Em7
I need to know, I need to know
Em7 Cadd9
Why are you walking away?
G
Was it something I did? Did I make a mistake cause
Em C
I'm trying to deal with the pain
G
I don't understand this, is this how it is?
Em7 Cadd9
Why are you running away?
G
I don't understand this, is this how it is?
Em7 Cadd9
Why are you running away?
G
Tell me please, tell me please, I need to know
Cadd9
Is this what you call a family?
Em7
Is this what you call a family?
Cadd9
Is this what you call a family?
Em7
Is this what you call a family?
G C
Spent seven years wishing that you'd drop the line
Em7 Cadd9
But I carry the thought along with you in my mind
G Cadd9
But is this what you call a family?
Em7 Cadd9 G
Is this what you call a family?
Em7
Family!
Em7 Cadd9
Why are you walking away?
G
Was it something I did? Did I make a mistake cause
Em7 Cadd9
I'm trying to deal with the pain
G
I don't understand this, is this how it is?
