Slaid Cleaves - Call It Sleep

## NOTE: ~ = Walk-Down from C to Am ##

CAPO: 3rd Fret

INTRO: C ~ Am F

C ~
You're a working man with a welder's tan
Am F
A sky blue ford you bought second hand
C ~
You drive on down to the factory
Am F
You drive on down because it's your job you see

C ~
Carry your thermos underneath your arm
Am F
Little coffee and bourbon will help you through the morn
C ~
You crack wise with the boys, so it don't bring you down
Am F
Time ain't nothing but the world spinning round

CHORUS:
G
You call it sleep
F
There's a car out on the four lane
G
You call it sleep
F
Rain on the window pane
G
Call it sleep
F
It's all the same

C ~
You stop off down at the Palomino Club
Am F
The neon sign says, "We've Got Your Bud"
C ~
It's a cinderblock building on a gravel parking lot
Am F
It's Friday night, you're out to spend every cent you got

C ~
So you dance the floor with a Mexican girl
Am F
She's got whiskey on her breath, smoke in her curls
C ~
Hands holding cigarettes and faces you don't know
Am F
You sit at the bar until it's time to go

CHORUS:
G
You call it sleep
F
There's a car out on the four lane
G
You call it sleep
F
Rain on the window pane
G
Call it sleep
F
It's all the same

INSTRUMENTAL: C ~ Am F C ~ Am F

C ~
The morning air feels like mud over your eyes
Am F
The sun coming up is just a sixty watt light
C ~
Maybe leave this town and leave this life
Am F
Get in your car and you start to drive

C ~
There's boarded up buildings and places you've never been
Am F
Cars on the interstate that never seem to end
C ~
It all flies away with the wave of your hand
Am F
Like birds over water trying to find land

CHORUS:
G
You call it sleep
F
There's a car out on the four lane
G
You call it sleep
F
Rain on the window pane
G
Call it sleep
F C ~ Am F
It's all the same
C ~
You're a working man with a welder's tan
Am F
A sky blue ford you bought second hand
