Findaway

Silverchair

Biography:

Silverchair was formed in 1992 in Newcastle, New South Wales. In 1994, at the age of 15, Silverchair got their big break when the band won a national competition called "Pick Me" with the demo of their song, "Tomorrow". The demo became one of the most played songs in the history of the Australian station Triple J, and they played that year's Big Day Out as part of the prize for their win.

From their third album (Neon Ballroom) onward, the band have tried to experiment with slightly more complex song structures

Drop D Tuning

Chords required:

D# F G# A Bb C C#
E----------------0--1--3--4---
B----------------2--3--5--6---
G----------------2--3--5--6---
D-------1--3--6--2--3--5--6---
A-------1--3--6--0--1--3--4---
D-------1--3--6---------------

Introduction is a series of G# power chords

-----
Verse:

Bb F G# D# Bb F G# x 2
C# C x 4

-----
Chorus:

C A Bb F x 4

-----
Second Verse has no guitar until the G# just before the
C#/C combo.

-----
Riff something along the lines of:

E-----------------------------------------------|
B--3--3-3-3-3-3_6--6-6-6-6-6_9--9-9-9-9-9-11-*--|
G-----------------------------------------------| _ = slide
D-----------------------------------------------|
A-----------------------------------------------|
D-----------------------------------------------|

* = every second repetition this adds a riff on the 9th and 11th
frets on the second string which is a little indecipherable,
no one notices the riff anyway, so just do anything.

Following the riff, the song reverts to the C#/C combo and then
into the chorus before finishing on a Bb.
