Remember The Day

by Sibylle Baier
Sibylle Baier

Biography:

Sibylle Baier is a German folk singer and actress whose musical abilities achieved belated recognition with the 2006 release of the album Colour Green, compiled from songs she had recorded in the early 1970s.

Having played guitar and piano as a young girl, she was moved to write her first song, "Remember The Day", after taking a road trip with a friend across the Alps to Genoa, via Strasbourg. She appeared in Wim Wenders' 1973 film Alice in the Cities

These are the chords for the original C tuning, transpose two whole steps down for the chords for standard
tuning. I'm not really sure about the Em/B, it might be x20002 or something like that.

Am

Am D Am
remember the day
Am G C Em
when I left home to buy some food
Am G C E
myself in that painful february mood
Am
I did what I could

Am D
remember that day
Am G C Em
when I left home to just buy some food
Am G C E
considering if one shouldn't die or if one should
Am D
sun was high, and I
G C A G (xxx787)
found me on the road to genoa

D C Em B
did you ever drive in a moonstruck constitution
Em Am Em/B D
and find to reach a seaport at dawn is a solution
G
you should If you could
D C Em B
there slowly, slowly, I no longer thought of what is good or what is not
Em Am Em/B D
there simply was the water's smell and remoteness
G
I only stood

D C Em B
and watched that old cold ocean
Em Am Em/B D
in tender and bright, full, unspeakable emotion
G Am
I did what I could
D E
all was good
