The Song Is Still Slipping Away

by Shooter Jennings
Shooter Jennings

Biography:

Shooter Jennings (born Waylon Albright Jennings in 1979, ) is an American country music singer, the only child of Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter. His middle name comes from his father's drummer, Richie Albright. Shooter Jennings lived his first few years in a crib on his parents' tour bus. By age five, he was playing drums.

Great little tune from Shooter's second album, Electric Rodeo. Standard tuning, no capo!

Intro: C

C G F C
With a bag, a bottle and this old guitar
C G F C
In the back of some bus, on the road
C G F C
I'm living the high life, with nothing to show
C G C
But a love that's letting me go

F G C
Your heroes turn out to be assholes
F G C
The light that you're chasing in the tunnel is a train
F G C
Singer's in key, the guitar's in tune
F G C
But the song is still slipping away

C G F C
Oh, the lights of the city paint a stage in the night
C G F C
For two hearts breaking in time
C G F C
Wild horses are cursed, but then freedom and mind
C G C
And the hunger left burning inside

F G C
Your heroes turn out to be assholes
F G C
The light in the tunnel that you're chasing is a train
F G C
Singer's in key, the guitar's in tune
F G C
But the song is still slipping away

F G C
And slowly nothing else matters
F G C
As the white and the black become grey
