[Verse]
C F
The streets of my town are not what they were
C F
They are haloed in anger, bitter and hurt
C F
And it's not so you'd notice but it's a sinister thing
F C F C F
Like the wheels of ambition at the christening
C F
So I went out walking on the streets of the dead
C
With a chip on my shoulder
F G
And a voice in my head
C
It said you have been brought here
F
Though you don't know what for
C F
Well the mystery train is coming right to your door

[Chorus]
G C/G G C/G
And I hear you calling, you don't have to call so loud
G C/G G F
I see you falling and you don't have to walk so proud
C/G F
You can run all night but we can take you where
C F C F
You can cry like an angel

C
There were high school night dances
F
When we played stump the band
C F G
We were raising each other in a strange land
Am
There were hard pills to swallow
F
But we drank 'em all down
C
Oh the nights were too short then
F
And now they're a little too long

[Chorus]
G C/G G C/G
I hear you calling and you don't have to call so loud
G C/G G F
I see you falling and you don't have to walk so proud
C/G F
You can run all night but we can take you where
C
You can shout out in anger

You can laugh like a fool
F
You can cry like an angel

[Instrumental]
G Dm Am F G Dm F G

[Verse]
C
So look homeward baby
F
Keep your eyes on the sky
C
They will never forgive you
F G
So don't ask them to try
C F
This is your party, I know it's not your ideal
C
May we all find salvation
F
In professions that heal

[Chorus]
C/G Bb
I hear you calling, you don't have to call so loud
C/G G F
I see you falling and you don't have to walk so proud
C/G F
You can run all night but we can take you where
C
You can shout out an answer

You can laugh like a fool

You can call up to heaven
G C/G
We'll be listening to you
C
You can sing hallelujah

You can fly like a bird
F C F
You can cry like angel when there are no words
