Shakey Graves

Seeing All Red

by Shakey Graves
Shakey Graves

Biography:

Shakey Graves, aka Alejandro Rose-Garcia from Austin, Texas, plays a gnarly composite of blues and folk as a one-man-band of epic sonic proportions. The sound emitted from his hollow body guitar, mildly distorted amp and suitcase drum belie the young singer’s lean frame. He fingerpicks while keeping time with a double-pedal kick drum, hitting a snare fitted into his suitcase drum and a tambourine fashioned to its side. And when he sings, Rose-Garcia unleashes an unearthly howl.

This is a Shakey Graves song so obviously he's doing some travis picking, which is alternating between the
bass line (String E) and (String D). As well there are some riffs he plays transitiones between each chord.
If requested I can tab these out for you. Here is a basic chord sheet for the song. Add a shakey vibe, and
your golden ponyboy

(Okay)

(Intro)

Bm x2 A x2

[Verse 1]
Bm
Yeah, well, mama had an apron

Daddy had a beard
A
They traded places almost every year
Bm
Daddy had a shovel

Ooh, and mama had a ball
A
But they never threw it or dug after all
G
So why do I worry
Em
Why do I pray

Every single night

Yeah, every single day
G
Oh I'm out in the street

With my knees getting wet
Em
Yeah, what does it say

What does it say

Bm x2 A x2

[Verse 2]
Bm
Well now the horses are gone

Ooh, and the dogs are all sick
A
Yeah, but nobody seems to worry about it

Ooh
Bm
What is it this time

Yeah what could it be

Oh, where can I go
A
What can I see

[Chorus:]
G
But I'm busy yelling in black

Yelling in black
Em
Cursing in white

Cursing in white

Cursing all night
G
Yeah seeing all red
Em
Yeah seeing all red

Bm x2 A x2

[Chorus:]
G
Yeah I said I'm yelling in black

Yelling in black
Em
Cursing in white

Cursing in white

Cursing all night
G
Yeah seeing all red
Em
Mm, seeing all red

[Chorus:]
G
Yeah well I'm yelling in black

Yelling in black
Em
Cursing in white

Cursing all night

Cursing all night
G
Yeah seeing all red
Em
Ooh seeing all red

Bm
