C,CM7/B,Am,G x2

Verse 1:
C CM7/B Am G
Up every morning early, I barely hit the bed
C CM7/B Am G
A good man has to break his back to earn his daily bread
C CM7/B Am G
Some spend their lives a-diggin, wish away their time
C CM7/B Am G
But I am never happier than when hauling in the lines

Chorus:
C CM7/B Am G
I'm a son of a sailor, a sea-faring man
C CM7/B Am G
I live off the water by the work of my hands
C CM7/B Am G
With my face to the wind, and my back to the land,
F G C
I'm a son of a sailor, and the sea, I command

Verse 2:
C CM7/B Am G
My father was a fisherman like his father before
C CM7/B Am G
So I never really got a chance to labor safe on shore
C CM7/B Am G
My body hard and blistered, my bones bleached white with salt
C CM7/B Am G
And my ears are ever listening to hear the boatman's call

Verse 3:
C CM7/B Am G
When my days are over, when my time has come
C CM7/B Am G
Lower me down below the bow, let the waves take me home
C CM7/B Am G
There is no sweeter suffering for a sailor lost at sea
C CM7/B Am G
Than to see his soul at sunrise leave his body to the deep

F G C
I'm a son of a sailor, and the sea, I command

The song is way more complicated than this, but these are the base chords.
Sean finger picks, and there is a 2nd guitar, and a couple other instruments.

Cheers!
