Savage Garden

Tell Me Its Okay

by Savage Garden
Savage Garden

Biography:

From Woodridge, Australia to worldwide success, Darren Hayes and Daniel Jones were responsible for some of the most widely-known pop songs of the late '90s and early '00s. Appropriately enough, given their Anne Rice-inspired name, Savage Garden veered between lush ballads (Truly Madly Deeply, I Knew I Loved You) and up-tempo dance numbers (I Want You, The Animal Song) with a deftness that put many of their contemporaries in the shade.

In July of 1996, under Roadshow Music, the duo released their debut single I Want You.

Am
So many people wonder why
F
in a world where you and I

Hatred and lies

The cards are dealt

Someone tell me it's okay
Am F
Say it's true cause
Am G Em
I don't wanna believe it

VERSE 2
Am
I don't believe you when you say
F
you don't have time in your day
G
to indulge or ridicule
Em
crack a smile or play the human
Am
Tear to pieces your own soul
F
but I think that you should know
G
I have seen my desire
Em
only branded a liar

CHORUS
Am F
Oooh
G Em
Someone tell me it's okay
Am F
Say it's true cause
Am G Em
I don't wanna believe it

VERSE 3
Em Am
If there's a reason for descent
F
into lonely nothingness
G
go on throw 'em in the fire
Em
Take the rope, swing it higher

Am
under the amber-autumn sun
F
may the prophet come undone
G
for a world without sorrow
Em
is a day with no tomorrow,

PRECHORUS
Am
The time of faking
F
is over, done
G
The cards are dealt
Em
Let's have some fun

CHORUS
Am F
Oooh
G Em
Someone tell me it's okay
Am F
Say it's true cause
Am G Em
I don't wanna believe it

Am F
Say it's true
G Em

Am F
Say it's true cause
