Sarah Harmer

Biography:

Sarah Harmer (born on 12 November 1970 in Burlington, Ontario) is a Canadian folk singer.

Harmer gained her first exposure to the musician's lifestyle as a teenager, when her older sister Mary started taking her to concerts by the then-unknown The Tragically Hip. [Introduction]
E A B A (x2)

[Verse 1]
E A
The city was too late for us
B A
I got there and you wanted to get away
E A
The city was too grey for us
B A E
We slept through the blue skies under clouds and the duvet
A
And the streets are all too straight for us
B A E
A parade of nobility seen from above
A
The city is to blame for us
B A C#m G#m F#m F#m
And what was our love...
C#m G#m F#m F#m
What was...

[Verse 2]
E A
The city makes you make a fuss
B A
There's places to meet up under the light
E A
The city's got its stake in us
B A E
It's keeping receipts of our hello's and our hi's
A
And everything is made of dust
B A E
From the backs of the comets to the little street mice
A
The city takes so long to get quiet
B A
And lust... wasn't sleeping that night

[Bridge]
C#m G#m F#m F#m C#m G#m F#m F#m
Before we knew it, we knew it was right
C#m G#m F#m F#m C#m G#m F#m F#m
Before we blew it I didn't know that we might
C#m G#m F#m
And now it's somebody's story
F#m C#m G#m F#m F#m
And I'm not sorry that it's mine
C#m G#m F#m F#m A
Before we knew it we were out of time

[Verse 3]
E A
And the city says, "Oh, if I could..."
B A E
But the rain-soaked battered view makes you not sure
A
Am I walking in your neighbourhood?
B A E
I was just driving by the rained-out streets where we once were
A
And even though it's way too late
B A
Time seems to have stopped still where we stood
E A
You ran back in and you're somewhere in the city
B A E
You're somewhere in the city and I hope you're good
