Sarah Harmer

Biography:

Sarah Harmer (born on 12 November 1970 in Burlington, Ontario) is a Canadian folk singer.

Harmer gained her first exposure to the musician's lifestyle as a teenager, when her older sister Mary started taking her to concerts by the then-unknown The Tragically Hip. [Verse 1]

Am F C Csus2
Twinkling in the window, it’s a sparkle on the snow
Am F C Csus2
Hovering to see if I can see you come and go
Am F C Csus2
I came down the dark road, arms under my coat
Am F C Csus2
And my breath is nearly freezing my eyes

[Verse 2]

Am F C Csus2
The car that dropped me off, why did it turn around
Am F C Csus2
And watch me walk the long way down
Am F C Csus2
Past the glow of town like a setting sun
Am F C Csus2
Horizons alive with electric light and
C F C Csus2 Am
Hum

[Chorus 1]

F C Am G
Were you standing in the greeting card aisle when you called me up?
F C Am
And held me to the end of the long line
F C Am G
Have you got me in your bleeding heart file next to lady luck?
F C G Am
Well this light of your life has drawn the blind

[Verse 3]

Am F C Csus2
There was something about the handwriting that made me keep every scrap
Am F C Csus2
Something about the way the eyes looked away at the last
Am F C Csus2
I've kept something burning on the sill real low
Am F
But now I don't know

[Chorus 2]

C F C Am G
Were you standing in the greeting card aisle when you called me up?
F C Am
And held me to the end of the long line
F C Am G
Have you got me in your bleeding heart file next to lady luck?
F C G Am
Well this light of your life has drawn the blind

[Verse 4]

Am F C
The wind from the river will swirl like a scream
Am F C
And wrap itself 'round you
Am F C
There may be a friend somewhere down the road
Am F C
But from here you have to walk it out
C F C Csus2 Am
Alone

[Chorus 3]

F C Am G
Cause you were standing in the greeting card aisle when you called me up
F C Am
And held me to the end of your long line
F C Am G
And you've got me in your bleeding heart file next to lady luck
F C F C
And this light of your life will not shine twice
F C G Am
This light has drawn the blind
