C F C
Her name was Stella, and she was old and gray
G C
She had rusty strings and keys
F C
And to tune her it took a pair of pliers
G C
And lots of elbow grease

F C
She awakened me to the melody
F C F C F
Like the light from a brand new dawn
C F
From that moment on
C G C
It was all for the sake of the song

C F C
Her name was Maggie, she had eyes like fire
G C
That burned for me in the dark
F C
All she wanted was my very soul
G C
And all she could take from my heart

F C
But to her dismay a choice was made
F C F C F
And when that deed was done
C F
She turned and I was gone
C G C
It was all for the sake of the song
C F G C
And for the sake of the song, I walked my own road
F G C
For the sake of the song, not for silver and gold
F G C
Some may think I?m wrong, but in my heart I know
F G C
I?ve known all along, it was all for the sake of the song

C F C
Her name was Laura, and she was pure like crystal
G C
Shinin' alone on the shelf
F C
And from the moment that her eyes met mine
G C
I knew there could be nobody else

F C
Kindred souls singin? free in perfect harmony
F C F C F
Two hearts beat now as one
C F
The road goes on and on
C G C
And it?s all for the sake of the song
C F G C
And for the sake of the song, I walked my own road
F G C
For the sake of the song, not for silver and gold
F G C
Some may think I?m wrong, but in my heart I know
F G C
I?ve known all along, it was all for the sake of the song

Her name is Stella
