Rodney Atkins

Honestly

by Rodney Atkins
Rodney Atkins

Biography:

Rodney Atkins, born March 28, 1969 in Knoxville, Tennessee, is an American country singer. He was an adopted child. As an infant at the Holston Methodist Home for Children in Greeneville, Tennessee, he was so sick that two couples who had taken him home returned him just a few days later. A third couple from Cumberland Gap, Tennessee, adopted him as well and, even though his ailments worsened, refused to give him up. His adoptive mother had been raised in a coal mining family near a tannery camp

INtro - D - A - G - Asus/A - D - A - G

(verse 1)
D A Bm
He said just think it over, and write me a list,
G Asus - A
So we can figure out, what we both deserve,
D A Bm
She hardly could believe it, their love had come to this,
G D/F# Asus - A
Dividing and deciding his and hers,

(bridge)
Em7 Bm
But she grabbed a paper napkin, asked the waitress for a pen,
Em7 Bm Asus - A
And one by one she wrote down, what she wanted most from him,

(chorus)
G D A D G D Asus-A
Honesty, sincerity, tenderness and trust,
D A Bm
A little less time for the rest of the world,
G Em7 Asus-A
And more for the two of us,
F#m G F#m G
Kisses each mornin, I love you's at night,
D A G
Just like it used to be,
Em7 D/F# Asus A D - A - G
The way life was when you were in love with me,

(verse 3)
She reached across the table, and placed it in his hand,
And said, you know this isn't easy, for me,
As he thought about the new car, the house and the land,
And wondered what that bottom line would be,

(bridge)
And a thousand other things she'd want him to leave behind,
But he never dreamed he'd open up that napkin and find,

(chorus)
G D A D G D Asus-A
Honesty, sincerity, tenderness and trust,
D A Bm
A little less time for the rest of the world,
G Em7 Asus-A
And more for the two of us,
F#m G F#m G
Kisses each mornin, I love you's at night,
D A G
Just like it used to be,
Em7 D/F# Asus A D
The way life was when you were in love with me,

(bridge)
Bm
But he fought back the tears,
F#m
As he looked in her eyes and said,
G A D
I don't know where to start,
Bm F#m
And she said everything on that list in your hand,
F Asus-A
Is written somewhere in your heart,

(ending chorus)
G D A D Bm A G Asus-A
Honesty, sincerity, just like it used to be,
Em7 D/F# Asus A D - A - G - Asus-A
The way life was when you were in love with me
