[Intro]
C Cmaj7 F G C Cmaj7 F G C Cmaj7 F G C Cmaj7 F

[Verse 1]
G C Cmaj7 F
If I seem kind of blue___
G C Cmaj7 F
It's just 'cause I'm not getting through to you
G Em Am Dm
I'll do anything you want me to
Em F G
Just so we can get along

[Verse 2]
G C Cmaj7 F
And if I should have a mind to say
G C Cmaj7 F
What is it makes you want to be this way
G Em Am
Could be today's just not my lucky day
Dm Em F
And I, can't do right for doing wrong

[Verse 3]
G C Cmaj7 F
I've told you what you mean to me
G C Cmaj7 F
I've even told you what you've been to me
G Em Am
I wish we could be where we both belong
Dm Em F
But I, can't do right for doing wrong

[Chorus]
G
I say too little or I say too much
C ~ Am
I see no recognition in your eyes
Em
I try to fix it with a tender touch
F Bb G
But I see too late that the chance has passed my by

[Verse 4]
C Cmaj7 F
Sometimes when I don't have much time to stay
G C Cmaj7 F
I'll make a move and watch you turn away
G Em Am
I'll hesitate when I should come on strong
Dm Em F G
But I, can't do right for doing wrong

[Instrumental]
C Cmaj7 F G C Cmaj7 F G Em Am G C C7 F

[Chorus]
G
I say too little or I say too much
C ~ Am
I see no recognition in your eyes
Em
I try to fix it with a tender touch
F Bb G
But I see too late that the chance has passed my by

[Verse 5]
C Cmaj7 F
But we could get to where we want to be
G C Cmaj7 F
With just a little faith and honesty
G Em Am
Instead of drifting where we don't belong
Dm Em F
Where we can't do right for doing wrong
G C Cmaj7 F G C Cmaj7 F
Can't do right for doing wrong
G C Cmaj7 F
Can't do right for doing wrong
G C
Can't do right for doing wrong
