Junebug

by Robert Francis
Robert Francis

Biography:

Born in Los Angeles in 1987, Robert Francis grew up surrounded by music. His father is a classical music producer and eccentric owner of one of the largest collections of sheet music in the U.S. One of Francis' earliest memories is his father "blasting music at full volume in his cluttered office under fluorescent lights until 4 a.m. while I was trying to sleep in the room next door." His mother, one of nine sisters, grew up in Mexico in a town so small that "it's just dirt

Song: Junebug

[Verse 1]
E C#m
Junebug, I remember everything.
Bsus2 Asus2
The blue carpeted floors, the tall wooden doors, I held you in my arms.
E C#m
Junebug, I'd burn down a picture of a house,
Bsus2 Asus2
say it was ours, when we didn't need it anymore.
Asus2 Bsus2
And that was when I loved you best.
Asus2 Bsus2
We were kids then. We shouldn't think about the rest.

[Hook]

[Verse 2]
E
You'd put the moon in a basket on your bike front by the coast.
C#m
The way your face lit up in pale grief you were a ghost.
Bsus2
You liked to play with darkness, all the universe could give.
Asus2
I was the home you once tried to escape, the dark in which you lived.
E
And soon they'd find you laying there on several different homes.
C#m
They'd find you laying on their porches, did you need to use the phone?
Bsus2 Asus2
And lure you into their rooms, that was the last I heard of June.
Asus2 Bsus2
That was love I could not allow.

[Pre-Hook 1]
Asus2 Bsus2
You were beautiful then, you're just a coke jaw now.

[Hook]
E Asus2/C#m/Bsus2/E
E Asus2/C#m/Bsus2/E/Asus2 Bsus2

[Bridge]
E Asus2 C#m Bsus2
E Asus2 C#m Bsus2
I remember everything.
Asus2 Bsus2
That was love I could not keep.

[Pre-Hook 2]
Asus2 Bsus2
You were beautiful then. I’m still in too deep.
