Right Away, Great Captain!

Do You Really Like Being Alone

by Right Away, Great Captain!
Right Away, Great Captain!

Biography:

Right Away, Great Captain! is the side project of Andy Hull, lead singer of Atlanta, Georgia rock act Manchester Orchestra. In contrast with the indie rock of his main band, RAGC features a stripped down, lo-fi indie folk sound. Hull has released 3 albums in trilogy format, in addition to a "rarities" album with previously unreleased songs and demos, depicting the story of a 17th century sailor. Hull releases RAGC albums through his Favorite Gentlemen Recordings label.

Four years of hard work!

This month of May we celebrated four years on the air. We continue working on the dissemination of this wonderful instrument, thank you for participating in our story!

This song hasn't been released yet, though it's one of my favourite RAGC songs. There
a few versions out there on YouTube, some with different lyrics. The version I tabbed can
found here:

I'm not sure about all the lyrics, but I think the music is generally right.

Up to the first chorus, Andy plays barre chords, then he switches to normal chords for
rest of the song, with the exception of the Bm and C when he sings the title line - I
the Bm is a barre chord and the C is a power chord
Figure out the strumming pattern yourself. I think he usually strums each chord 8 times
each time I've noted it down, though there are a couple of exceptions.

Intro:
G x 32, Bm x 8, C x 8, G x 32

G C
I'll dig a hole in my room
D G
To Birmingham and back again for you
G C
I tried what I could to be true
D G
I must admit I wasn't really really listening to you
G C
I folded my hands to a bird
D G
The shadows made you laugh they made your sun burn
G C
Do you think think we can rotate our turns?
D G
I think you've got a good thing going think it's gonna be alright sometime I swear

G G G G (32 strums)

G C
I tried what I could to believe
D G
In something bigger than that you were real
G C
You laughed I was praising you, you see
D G
Then with my arms lifted I was joking

Bm C D D
Do you really like being alone?
Bm C D D
Do you really like being alone? Ooh ooh ah ayee ah

G C
I play my guitar in my room
D G
Chris yells at me he's trying just to vacuum
G C
I'm writing the things that were leaked
D G
Your fingers and your legs and alphabetically
G C
I did what I could to be true
D G
I must admit that nobody was really listening to you
G C
So let's fly this plane over the moon
D G
Hopefully I'll make it back real soon

Bm C G G
Do you really like being alone? Of course you don't
Bm C G G
Do you really like being alone?
Bm C D D
Do you really like being alone?
G
When if you went back home
G
And got an actual job
G
And kissed your wife and two daughters
G
like I wish I could
C
Then we would all be free
G D (each half the usual length)
You'd think that we'd all be free

G G (16 strums)

G C
The lights they were bright on my skin
D G
Just trying to figure out what you mean with eternal sin
G C
So I asked for forgiveness again
D G
I don't know if I got it but my fingers are crossing

Bm C G G
I don't really like being alone, of course I don't
Bm C G G
I don't really like being alone
Bm C D D
I don't really like being alone
G
So I think I might just go back home
G
And get an actual job
G
And stop selling my soul to the devil
G
He buys so much merch from us
C
And then we'd all be free
G D (each half the usual length)
You'd think that we'd all be free

G (8 strums)

Bm C G G
I don't really like being alone
Bm C D D
I don't really like being alone
G
I think I might just go back home
G
And get an actual job
G
And tell both my redneck neighbors
G
To bring your dolls and stuff
C
And then I'd get some sleep
G D
I'd think that we'd all, finally
G
Sleep
