Ready For the Storm By: Dougie MacLean (Rich Mullins version)
Capo 2

[Verse 1]
Em
The waves crash in and the tide rolls out
D
It's an angry sea but there is no doubt
C
That the lighthouse will keep shining out
D
To warn a lonely sailor
Em
and The lightning strikes and the wind cuts cold
D
Through the sinner’s bones to the sailor's soul
C
Till there's nothing left that he can hold
D
Except the rolling ocean

[Chorus]
Em C D
Oh I am ready for the storm Yes Sir, ready
Em C D Em
I am ready for the storm I'm ready for the storm

[intro]
Em

[Verse 2]
Em
Oh, give me mercy for my dreams
D
'Cause every confrontation seems
C
To tell me what it really means
D
To be this lonely sailor
Em
when the sky begins to clear
D
The sun it melts away my fear
C
and I cry a silent weary tear
D
For those that mean to love me.

[Chorus]
Em C D
Oh I am ready for the storm Yes Sir, ready
Em C D Em
I am ready for the storm I'm ready for the storm

[Interlude]
C D C D C D C D

[Verse 3]
Em
The distance it is no real friend
D
And time will take its time
C
And you will find that in the end
D
It brings you me, this lonely sailor
Em
And when you take me by the hand
D
You love me Lord, you love me
C
And I should have realized
D
I had no reasons to be frightened

[Chorus]
Em C D
Oh I am ready for the storm Yes Sir, ready
Em C D Em
I am ready for the storm I'm ready for the storm
