Mayflower By Rich Dombroskie

[Intro] Am G Am G Am G F Am

[Verse 1]
Am C G Am
Darkness came early, as the snow began a swirling
C G Am
The lake began to growl, as the wind it did howl
C G Am
Although it looked tired, the engine still fired
G F Am
The Mayflower, had just one more run

[Verse 2]
Am C G Am
It was in November, the year 1912
Am C G Am
Chugged out of the Bay, for it,s final day
Am C G Am
The Captain and crew, with passengers so few
Am G F
Ahoy yelled the mate, as they headed south on Kaminiskeg
Am
Lake

[Verse 3]
Am C G Am
The steamwheeler moved on toward Combermere Town
Am C G Am
Carrying the corpse of one Herman Brown
Am C G Am
In a coffin so fine, made of local white pine
Am G F Am
Oh Mayflower, just one more run

[Verse 3]
Am C G Am
The night grew cold as the storm it took hold
Am C G Am
Whitecaps did rise, to an enormous size
Am C G Am
The hull took a thrashing, as the waves kept on crashing
Am G F Am
The Mayflower was dyin, as the passengers were crying

[Verse 4]
Am C G Am
The Mayflower went down with hardly a sound
Am C G Am
Several met their keeper, as that boat, it sank deeper
Am C G Am
They just couldn,t escape, that treacherous Lake
Am G F AM
T,was a disastrous plight, on that fateful night

[Verse 5]
Am C G Am
Although seven died, a miracle kept three men alive
Am C G Am
When Mr Brown,s coffin, came up from the bottom
Am C G Am
Clinging to the box, they floated to the nearest rocks
Am G F Am
Spent a frigid night, not giving up their fight

[Verse 5]
Am C G Am
If you ever pass this way, on a very clear day
Am C G Am
Where Kaminiskeg flows from the Masawaska River
Am C G Am
You will feel a chill where the Mayflower lies so still
Am G F Am
In her watery grave forever
