C F
I sold out and it’s time for leavin’

C G7
I cleaned out my desk and it’s all packed away

C F
No man is ever too old to start over

C G7 C
But I feel like an old man today

C F
And I said goodbye to my partner

C G7
Goodbye to the cowhands who worked the J 8

C F
Molly you’re ready but give me a moment

C G7 C C7
I’ve just one goodbye left to say

F G7 Am
Goodbye to my Palo Duro

F C G7
Goodbye to your ranges that I love so true

Am
Goodbye to your river your bright painted canyons

C G7 Am
I’ll never do better than you

C G7 C
I’ll never do better than you

C F
Like the buffalo and the Comanche

C G7
My farewell is neither fair nor complete

C F
If leaving is dying the nature of parting

C G7 C
Is a damn site more sorrow than sweet

C F
In the labor and love of a life time

C G7
What’s right and what’s wrong are confusing to me

C F
If I take the credit for the things that she is

C G7 C C7
I’ll take the blame for the things she might be

F G7 Am
Goodbye to my Palo Duro

F C G7
Goodbye to your ranges that I love so true

Am
Goodbye to your river your bright painted canyons

C G7 Am
I’ll never do better than you

C G7 C
I’ll never do better than you
