[Intro]
G D Em G
D A G G

[Verse]
G D Em G
Screamin’ in a mic, playin’ a Strat through a Vox AC-30
D A G
Gives a troublesome back and a ringin’ in a ears
G D Em G
My last band covered the Clash, the Kinks and the Replacements
D A G
Seems my soul is as misfit as my years
G D Em G
Now I got a Princeton reverb, it’s in an old Anvil case
D A G
It’s in the back of a Ford Econoline
G D Em G
It’s a 6-hour drive to Austin and the Continental Club
D A G
I got to change the strings on my ES-335

[Chorus]
D A G
Tell the devil that I’m gettin’ there as fast as I can
D A G
Playin’ a sunburst Gibson in an alt-country band
D Em G
And lovin’ a woman who can out-cuss any man
D A G
Tell the devil that I’m gettin’ there as fast as I can

[Verse]
G D Em G
I met her in LA, we was openin’ for Son Volt
D A G
She had eyes mascaraed like Eva Green’s
G D Em G
She sparkled with wildness like the blue yonder
D A G
She done a time in darkness and was 2 years clean
G D Em G
She wears an old leather jacket, it was made by Irish saints
D A G
And boots engraved with skulls and thorns
G D Em G
She got her ink in Tulsa still she don’t like red-dirt bands
D A G
Bein’ in love with her is like livin’ in a thunderstorm

[Chorus]
D A G
Tell the devil that I’m gettin’ there as fast as I can
D A G
Playin’ a sunburst Gibson in an alt-country band
D Em G
And lovin’ a woman who can out-cuss any man
D A G
Tell the devil that I’m gettin’ there as fast as I can

[Interlude]
G D Em G D A G G
G D Em G D A G G

[Bridge]
Bm A G
Now the faithless live in greys and faded purples
Bm A G
And the gamblers never hit on 12’s or 2’s
Bm A G
The drunken poets disappear into big shadows
D Em G A7
And the rock ‘n roll believers sing the easy rider blues

[Chorus]
D A G
Tell the devil that I’m gettin’ there as fast as I can
D A G
Playin’ a sunburst Gibson in an alt-country band
D Em G
And lovin’ a woman who can out-cuss any man
D A G
Tell the devil that I’m gettin’ there as fast as I can

[Outro]
D A G G D A G G
D Em G G D A G G
D A G
