Railroad Jerk

Forty Minutes

by Railroad Jerk
Railroad Jerk

Biography:

Railroad Jerk was a New York-based indie-rock band of the 1990s, specializing in a hard-driven blues-based sound. Their lineup changed frequently, but the stalwart members were Minnesota native Marcellus Hall (vocals, guitar) and North Carolina-born and Trenton, N.J.-bred Tony Lee (bass). The two met in Trenton, New Jersey in the spring of 1989 and quickly formed the band with drummer Jez Aspinall and second guitarist Chris Mueller rounding out the quartet.

[verse]

Em A
In forty minutes or so I'll be dead
Em
So long to all my beloved friends
A
My records go to my former lovers
Em
My bore constrictor goes to my ex-wife
A
My China goes to my two year old niece
Em
My trampoline goes to my priest
A
Here she comes, the angel in black
Em
Coming to take me.. back

[chorus]

G A
Yeah, I played my aces and my kings are gone
G A
The clock is ticking and I don't have long
G A
I'm in trouble and the final hand
G A B
You wanna leave.. but you can't

[verse]

Em A
Forget the dishes, I hear the call
Em
This is it folks, farely well
A
I take my leave now, moving on
Em
I wish to thank each and everyone
A
And everyone that I ever slept with
Em
And everyone that I ever fucked
A
Those that I helped and those that I hit
Em
May you all rest in peace when I die

[chorus]

G A
Yeah this is my last testament
G A
I can no longer be a participant
G A
It takes time to sink in to
G A B
But take heart, it's not you

[verse]

A
I'm slipping quickly into the next world
Em
I kiss the babies and all the young girls
A
Hope we can do it again, sometime
Em
Who will the world revolve around now
A
I'm going now, time to say goodbye
Em
I hope you manage, without me
A
I will die from.. natural causes
Em
It's in my stars that's how I know

[outro]

A Em
Au revoir.. so long
A Em
Goodbye.. I'm going
A Em
Oh yeah.. see you later
A Em
I'm going.. so long
A Em
(goodbye) (I'm leaving)
A Em
Oh yeah.. goodbye
