Rachel Sermanni

Sleep Acoustic

by Rachel Sermanni
Rachel Sermanni

Biography:

Rachel Sermanni, 7 November 1991. Is a songwriter from a small village in the Scottish Highlands called Carrbridge. It’s very nice up there.

Sometimes she plays solo and at others she is surrounded by a group of wonderful musicians consisting of Laura Wilkie, Siobhan Anderson and sometimes Louise Bichan (the fiddle pixies), Leo and Declan Forde and pianist Jennifer Austin.

She played the Communion night at Notting Hill Arts Centre in London, having had her track My Friend Fire, recorded and produced by Ben of Mumford and Sons.

SLEEP - Rachel Sermanni
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chords by: ripeandruin

Tuning: Drop D
Capo on the 3rd fret.

Here are the chords played (chord names are written as though played without a capo, also, numbers
of the frets are relative to the position of the capo):

Dm = xx0231 (she actually plays x5776x, so she can nicely slide on the 1st finger (index finger) to play B))
B = x1333x (and then slide with 2nd, 3rd and 4th finger down a half note to play A major)
A = x02220

Follow this picking (this also seems to be the intro):

e|--------------------------------------------------------------------0-----------------------------|
B|--------6-----------6-----------3-----------3----------2-----------2--------------2--------------|
G|--------7-----------7-----------3-----------3----------2--------------------------2--------------|
D|-----7-----7-----7-----7-----3-----3-----3-----3----2-----2-----2-----2------2----------2--------|
A|--5-----------5----------1-----------1-----------0-----------0-----------0----------------------2|
E|-(0)----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|

- slide down
() - sometimes she plays that note and it's beautiful...

You see, I don't know how to use these funny tab notations, but I think you could understand the idea.

Oh yes, and she does something like this, too:

e|-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|--------2-------------2--------------------------------------6---------|
G|--------2-------------2--------------------------------------7---------| etc.
D|-----2-----2------2-------2-----2-------------------------7-----7------|
A|--0-----------0--------------0--------0-----0-----0---5-------------5--|
E|-----------------------------------5-----3-----2-----(0)---------------|
...so - lar sys - tem - ssssssssssssss...

But you can figure it out yourself by listening to the song.
Anyways, here are the lyrics and chords (not complete):

Dm B
Sleep baby sleep
A
I don't mind if you leave;
Dm B A
We will part in our dreams, let them come.
Dm B
I'll give you my skin
A
But you can't have within;
Dm B
Hold me tight as you like.
A Dm B A
I will leave you when the day is done.

Dm B
Wake with the dawn
A
Discover needles in my neck.
Dm B A
Sleep it bade me turn my back on you.
Dm B
I'll watch your chest
A
As it rises with each breath
Dm B
But you still breathe beneath a river
A Dm B A
that I'll never even wade through.

Dm B
Give me your cup and
A
I'll give you mine.
Dm B
But I'll prise it from your fingers
A
in surrender to the night.
Dm B
The moon is bright
A
And hangs alone.
Dm B A
Yeah, he's got the stars, but they've got their own

Solar systems.

And I really haven't figured out this part yet:

And I watch as he wards off the dark.
With the gift that the sun gave him.
And I learn from the moon what we are;
All alone.
But alone in a sea of lonely stars.

So go baby glow.

But I'm almost certain, that she ends the song with this chord: 0 0 0 10 9 10

I hope you found this useful. Please, feel free to improve this tab.
