Rachael Yamagata

Worn Me Down

by Rachael Yamagata
Rachael Yamagata

Biography:

Rachael Yamagata (born on September 23, 1977 in Arlington, Virginia) is a singer-songwriter. She plays piano and acoustic guitar, and her dark, smokey alto garners frequent comparisons to Fiona Apple. Her first full-length album, Happenstance, was released on June 8, 2004.

Yamagata became the vocalist for the Chicago funk-fusion band Bumpus, spending six years with them while writing and recording three albums and touring the country. However, she began to write songs which took on a style that conflicted with the funk vision of the band.

A beautiful song by Rachel Yamagata. It is really a piano song, but there is an easy
to play it acoustically. And here it is!

VERSE:

G D
Gone, she's gone
Em C
How do you feel about it
G D
That's what I thought
Em C
You're real torn up about it
G D
And I wish you the best
Em C
But I could do without it
G D Em C
And I will, because you've worn me down
G D Em C
Oh, I will, because you've worn me down

CHORUS:

G D
Worn me down like a road
Em C
I did everything you told
G D
Worn me down to my knees
Em C
I did everything to please
G D Em C
But you can't stop thinking about her
G D Em C
No, you can't stop thinking about her

VERSE 2:

G D
And you're wrong, you're wrong
Em C
I'm not overreacting
G D
Something is off
Em C
Why don't we ever believe ourselves
G D Em C
And I, oh I, I feel that word for you
G D Em C
And I will, because you've worn me down
G D Em C
Oh, I will, because you've worn me down

CHORUS:

G D
Worn me down like a road
Em C
I did everything you told
G D
Worn me down to my knees
Em C
I did everything to please
G D Em C
But you can't stop thinking about her
G D Em C
No, you can't stop thinking about her

BRIDGE:

C D C D
She's so pretty; she's so damn right
C D
But I'm so tired of thinking
Em D
About her again tonight

ENDING CHORUS:

G D
Worn me down like a road
Em C
I did everything you told
G D
Worn me down to my knees
Em C
I did everything to please

G D
You, Worn me down like a road
Em C
I did everything you told to me to do
G D Em C
But you, can't stop thinking about her
G D Em C
No, you can't stop thinking about her (everything you told me to do)
G D Em C
No, you can't stop thinking about her
G D Em C
No, you can't stop thinking about her (everything you told me to do)
