Purity Ring

Obedear

by Purity Ring
Purity Ring

Biography:

Megan James and Corin Roddick formed Purity Ring in 2010. They both grew up in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. James played piano and Roddick played drums prior to the band's inception, but neither play them as a primary instrument for Purity Ring. During live shows, Roddick uses a custom built, tree-shaped instrument to drive both live sound and lighting. Additionally, during live appearances both wear clothes custom designed and sewn by James.

The duo were originally two of several members of the band of GOBBLE GOBBLE (now Born Gold).

“I’m not pouring my heart out in a desperate plea to be heard and understood. It is just my thoughts and
experiences as source material,” Megan, Purity Ring

“Working the way we do isn’t always conducive to being prolific, and we’re kind of perfectionists.”
Corin, Purity Ring

[Verse 1]
F#m D
I came down over the sleepy mountains where our
Bm D
Wide toes plunged into the weeping shale to tear our
F#m D
Skin up off from the bottom leaves our ankles bare
Bm D
Don't just wander back and forth and leave it

[Bridge 1]
F#m D
Build it into pinnacles and shrines of some
Bm D
Some ghastly predicament of mine you'll find
F#m D
Leaves us plastered to a bed of hairs with
Bm D
Me all coiled up near the bottom with my chest unbeared

[Chorus]
F#m D
Obedear [oh but dear] the sky is low
Bm D
Gather up its harm in gauze with grateful arms
F#m D
Obedear [oh but dear] the sky is low
Bm D
Gather up its harm in gauze with grateful arms

[Verse 2]
F#m D
Obedear [oh but dear] the sky is low watch
Bm D
Fluent sea men rig their rudders so they'll
F#m D
Graze it with their wind arrows
Bm D
Tis in the fathoms that-that they brush below-low

[Bridge 2]
F#m D
Oh my dreams come back to me, back to me, back to...
Bm D
Oh my wrinkles build on me, build on me, build on...

[Chorus]
F#m D
Obedear [oh but dear] the sky is low
Bm D
Gather up its harm in gauze with grateful arms
F#m D
Obedear [oh but dear] the sky is low
Bm D
Gather up its harm in gauze with grateful arms
