INTRO:
Am C G F x2

Am C G F
The man of the moment is just way ahead of his time,
Am C G F
could be why you see just distance in his eyes
Riff 1 F C
he could be watching ashes grow,
Riff 1 F C G
where all your best seeds were just now sown
Dsus2 Am F Am
but for all I know there's far more I don't

Am C G F
New rays of light must fight for a place between the leaves
Am C G F
so son don't seem surprised to find no shade beneath this tree
Riff 1 F C
just like Abe you can't think twice
Riff 1 F C G
when offered your piece of the franchise
Dsus2 Am F
now every kid expects a birthright

F G
Hand-me-down, hand-me-down oh brother,
Am G
now it's your turn, it's your turn to deliver
F G
hand-me-down, hand-me-down oh brother,
Dsus2 Am F
what's the measure of a man, made to measure

Am C G F
It's some privilege to claim that only the strong survive -
Am C G F
if you can choose the time and place and what you'll sacrifice
Riff 1 F C
we'll all get our piece of the dream
Riff 1 F C G
and the have-nots will have to take another hit for the team
Dsus2 Am
well that's just how it's always been

Am C G
It went something like - garden, tree, Adam and Eve, and Father, pray,
F
forgive.
Am C G F
But if I never hear that shit again I'll live and live and live
Riff 1 F C
and whatever made the world go round before
Riff 1 F C G
is probably what will keep it going round after they're gone
Dsus2 Am F
but for all I know there's much more I don't

F G
Hand-me-down, hand-me-down oh brother,
Am G
now it's your turn, it's your turn to deliver
F G
hand-me-down, hand-me-down oh brother,
Dsus2 Am
what's the measure of a man, made to measure
F
made to measure

OUTRO:
Am C G F

repeat a few times then finish on Am
