[Verse]
G
I was born in Indian summer,
G
In the South End long ago.
G
Where those dirty streets cried out for rain
G
And this is what I know.
G
And the rain came and they only stopped
G
Just in time for snow.
G
And the icy cold filled up my shoes
G
And this is what I know.

[Chorus]
G
Please don't let me die in Florida,
G
I don't care about my name.
G
If you catch me dying in Orlando
G
Throw my bed on to a train.

[Bridge]
G
Well I went to war to fight the Japs
G
When the war was over
G
I threw my cap
G
Just as far as you could throw a thing
G
I went at home and gave my girl a ring.
G
I put the highways and the blacktop down
G
Turned the prairies into towns
G
And those hills give away just like a wedding gown
G
I put the highways the blacktop down.

[Verse]
G
I don't need to see no mirror,
G
I am never to see my own face,
G
Just a reflection of somebody
G
Who's gonna leave without a trace.
G
Roll me over them hills so cold and proud
G
Let the night come in and lay my shroud
G
I never been to Califonia
G
Maybe that's where I should end my days.

[Chorus]
G
Don't let me die in Florida,
G
I don't care about my name.
G
If you catch me dying in Orlando
G
Roll my bed on to a train.
