Old Blind Dogs

Biography:

Old Blind Dogs is a musical group which plays Celtic folk and traditional Scottish folk music, with influences from rock, reggae and Middle Eastern music rhythms. The three founding members of the band (Ian F. Benzie, Buzzby McMillan and Jonny Hardie) first met during a so-called "buskers' holiday" in the Scottish Highlands in 1990, and after playing together for the summer decided to call themselves "Old Blind Dogs". Dave Francis and Carmen Higgins joined the band soon afterwards

[Verse]
Dm G
One morning as I went a-fowling
F G Am
Bright Phoebus adorning the plain
Dm G
It was down by the shores of Lough Erne
F G Dm
I met with a beautiful dame

[Verse]
G
Her voice was so sweet and so pleasing
F G Am
These beautiful notes she did sing
Dm G
The innocent fowl of the forest
F G Dm C G
Their loving to her they did bring

[Verse]
Dm G
It being the first time I met her
F G Am
My heart it did leap with surprise
Dm G
I thought that she could be no mortal
F G Dm
But an angel that fell from the skies

[Verse]
G
Her hair it hung down in gold tresses
F G Am
Her skin was as white as the snow
Dm G
Her cheeks were as red as the roses
F G Dm C G
That will bloom along Lough Erne's shore

[Verse]
Dm G
When I heard that my love was eloping
F G Am
These words unto her I did say
Dm G
Oh, take me to your habitation
F G Dm
For cupid has led me astray

[Verse]
G
All my life I will keep the commandments
F G Am
They say that it is the best plan
Dm G
Young maidens who yield to men's pleasures
F G Dm
The scriptures do say they are wrong

[Verse]
Dm G
Mary don't accuse me of weakness
F G Am
All treachery I do disown
Dm G
I will make you a lady of honour
F G Dm
If with me this night you'll come home

[Verse]
Dm G
Had I all the wealth of Aladdin
F G Am
His gold and his jewels and what's more
Dm G
I would part with them all for to win you
F G Dm
And live along Lough Erne's shore
F G Dm
And live along Lough Erne's shore
F G Dm
And live along Lough Erne's shore
