No Use For A Name

Let Me Down

by No Use For A Name
No Use For A Name

Biography:

No Use for a Name (often abbreviated NUFAN) was a punk rock band from San Jose, California. They were formed in 1987 by Tony Sly and Rory Koff. The band is highly praised in the skate punk and hardcore scenes, though their sound has evolved considerably through the years, taking on a much lighter and poppier brand of melodic punk.

NUFAN's debut album, Incognito, was released in 1990 through New Red Archives. The band has released a single and one more full-length on this label, until signing up with Fat Mike's label, Fat Wreck Chords, on 1993.

Verse 1:
D
She's never alone
A
because she's scared of what
Bm
she might say to herself
A
Always drinking in the
D F#
backroom of the bar where
Bm D G
everyone turns in
A
A half-hearted grin
D
She won't be afraid
A
as long as that prescription
Bm
keeps going through
A
And all the happy pills make
D F#
her look like cardboard
Bm D G
cut out of someone
A F#
I use to learn from

Chorus 1:
Bm A
But on the phone
G
she's telling everyone
D
that there was a blue
F#
sky she left behind
Bm A
And there's a place
G D/F#
that no one knows about
Em
Away from integrity
she writes a book
Gm
in her head that
A D A Bm A G
nobody will read

Verse 2:
D
Whatever you say
A
please don't talk about

the time when she was young
A
Apparently that was a

different person and so
Bm D G
long ago it's strange to
A F#
me there's no history

Bm A/C#
But there's a past and
G
she's telling everyone

It must be a garden

that wouldn't grow

With roots of shame

too sensitive to blame

herself as we watch he drown

I can't save the queen
A
without a kingdom
D A Bm A G x2 Gm<-- Bass Solo
or a crown

D
Somewhere in this
F#
lonely game of sympathy
Bm A
there is a selfish dream
G D/F#
That makes me sick
D
Standing on the high wire
F#
while you're on the ground
Bm A
To you what is dangerous
G Gm
is safe and sound
G(Hold) D Bm G A D Bm G A D(hold)
You let me down
